2024 VERMENTINO

A crisp, elegant dry white wine that contains subtle pear, sherbet and lemon pith flavours

THE STORY

Vermentino fruit was sourced from Chittering in the northern end of Perth Hills wine region for this wine. The vineyard sits beside a creek bed and is on very light  and well drained alluvial sands, soils ideal for the production of aromatic and elegant dry whites.

TASTING NOTES

Hand harvested in the early morning before chilling overnight, the fruit was gently crushed and pressed before fermentation in stainless steel tank. The inert stainless steel surface is ideal to focus fruit freshness and vibrancy. Combined with a long slow, cold ferment the resulting wine is allowed to champion the crisp, saline and elegant natural fruit flavours of the variety. The wine displays contains subtle pear, lemon sherbet and lemon pith flavours on a crisp and vibrant palate.

“A limey, saline, grassy, crunchy expression of the variety – right on! It’s lean and racy, has some light juiciness in the textural mix, but nails the lightweight, frisky crispness of the variety and delivers high refreshment factor likewise. A little cashew nut savouriness delivers additional complexity and interest. This hits the spot.- 93 Points” Mike Bennie- Halliday Wine Companion

“This has been a varietal winner since Myattsfield started releasing it a few years ago. Not as fine and linear as previous years but has nice apple crumble characters on the nose and then into the palate, which releases a slightly nutty nuance. Nice current drinking wine. -91 Points Ray Jordan Wines
